The Truman Show. Deleted Scene.

 INT.  LAUREN'S APARTMENT - DAY

Truman, and Lauren enter her apartment home in the city, they kiss frantically with passion while

simultaneously walking toward the bedroom.

                                                          LAUREN

                                                       (in between kisses)

                                            You're free Truman, you're free, and we can finally be together.

Lauren's landline phone rings as they both fall on the bed still in each other's arms kissing.

                                                        TRUMAN

                                             Are you going to get that?

Lauren runs over to the phone and rips out the cord from the wall then hurries back to the bed.

                                                        LAUREN

                                             No?! Wait maybe we should slow down, we're both in shock, and

                                             obviously trying to make up for lost time, but let's just... oh

                                             Truman, (wraps arms around him) you're free, it's a miracle you

                                             found the strength to escape.

                                                

                                                        TRUMAN

                                             You're the miracle Lauren, I escaped because of you, my love for you.

                                                       LAUREN

                                             I love you, and we're finally together, but Christof will try to get you back

                                             in, there's something you need to know Truman.

                                                      TRUMAN

                                             What?

Lauren leans in, and whispers in Truman's ear, he recoils back in disgust, and confusion.

                                                      LAUREN

                                            There's more.

Truman gets up off the bed and starts to pace.

                                                     TRUMAN

                                            No don't tell me, I don't want to know, I don't want to remember!

Someone knocks loudly on the apartment door. Lauren gets up and checks the peephole.

                                                     LAUREN

                                            It's Christof, and he's alone.

They speak to each other through the door remaining closed.

                                                    TRUMAN

                                            Don't let that monster in.

                                                   CHRISTOF

                                                    (speaking loudly)

                                           I assume by now Lauren told you about the unaired footage.

                                           I didn't authorize that, I was angry when I found out, and my number

                                           two went to prison for it. The whole world wants to kill me, and I

                                           came here alone with no security, because the truth is - I love you, and I

                                           want you to trust me, I thought if I risked my life coming here without

                                           protection, well it's a start, a new beginning between us. (beat) Truman?

                                                    LAUREN

                                          You can't trust him Truman, not ever.

                                                    TRUMAN

                                          I know. I'm going to let him in, I want to finally meet the god who

                                          bought my life. It all makes sense now, that thing you told me anyway. 

                                                    

Truman opens the door, and invites Christof in. Truman looks Christof in his eyes, Lauren gives

Christof the evil eye.

                                                    CHRISTOF

                                          Thank you for giving me this chance to start over.

                                                    TRUMAN

                                          Now I understand why the other kids called me shark bait. I'm the poster boy

                                          for everything that's wrong in the world.

                                                    CHRISTOF

                                          And some good, you helped put away some very bad people none of which

                                          was aired by the way.

                                                    LAUREN

                                           It's not your fault Truman, you were under their influence, their 

                                           manipulation. He wants you back in, he's here to blackmail you.

            

                                                   TRUMAN

                                           It is my fault, it's all my fault. (beat) It's my fault, because I was born, but

                                           that's ok, because I'm reborn now in the real world, and there's nothing

                                           my fake god can do to change that. I'm free Christof, oh and good luck

                                           with your stock crashing.

Truman physically pushes Christof out the door, and into the hallway, then slams the door shut. He

wraps Lauren in a romantic hug, they both smile while looking longingly into each other's eyes.

                                                    TRUMAN

                                            So, we're taking it slow?
