EXT. SUBURBAN STREET - DAY
We see JOSEPHINE, and CONNIE carrying a worn looking couch to the edge of the lawn
near the street, and set it down, it has a free sign on it. JOSEPH who lives directly across the
street is rolling his garbage can out to the curb, and notices Josephine, and Connie.
JOSEPH
Free uh? That couch looks like it has a lot of life left in it.
JOSEPHINE
Oh hi, yeah it does, but my boyfriend spends more time in his mancave
with it, and his friends than me so, I gave him an ultimatum, and he made
the right choice.
JOSEPH
I can use that, my ex took everything, and I can't afford a new one right
now.
JOSEPHINE
Perfect! It's yours. Connie can help you move it to your house.
Connie gives Josephine a dirty look.
JOSEPH
Great, thank you so much, it'll be nice to sit on a couch again to watch tv.
JOSEPHINE
What are you using now?
JOSEPH
A lawn chair.

INT. JOSEPH'S LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Joseph, and Connie carefully put the couch down.
JOSEPH
Thank you, much appreciated and tell my neighbor thanks again.
CONNIE
Josephine.
JOSEPH
What?
CONNIE
I'm Connie, my friend's name, your neighbor is Josephine. And don't get
too attached to that couch, her boyfriend might want it back at some point.
JOSEPH
Seems like she was pretty confident this couch is bye bye.
Josephine? Nice name, my name's Joseph, her boyfriend putting a couch
first? Ridiculous, and sad. What a jerk.
CONNIE
(smirking)
Nice meeting you Joseph. See you around.
Connie leaves, and as soon as the door closes Joseph leaps in the air, he lands butt first splayed out.
Joseph has a curious look on his face and bounces hard up and down a few times. He gets up off
of the couch, lifts the cushions up to take a look under, he sees nothing. He pushes his hand
into the springs and starts to press around.
JOSEPH
(aloud)
Whatever that lump is I gotta fix it. You get what you pay for.
Aa beggars can't be choosers.
PAN follow Joseph while he gets a utility knife from the kitchen drawer and walks back to the couch.
Joseph cuts open the couch and sees three large black duffle bags, he unzips one and sees wads of cash.

The conversation is interrupted by loud screaming heard coming across the street from Joseph's
house.
CONNIE
I knew this was a bad idea.
JOSEPHINE
Oh no, you guys stay here, I'll take care of it. Ok you both told me so.
Damn it!

JOSEPHINE
You're involved now, I'm sorry, but you are. This is my fault. (beat)
Let me just come inside, and we can talk about all this. Ok? Look
I screwed up, but we need to work this out. Can we do that? The other
Neighbors are probably getting suspicious.
JOSEPH
(Still visibly shook)
Alright Josie.
JOSEPHINE
(smiling)
