INT. - SALOON - DAY
We see GABE sitting at the bar with a shot of whiskey in front of him. The BARTENDER is
staring at Gabe.
BARTENDER
You going to drink that old man? Or are you just going to sit
there like the piece of shit you are?
GABE
What? (beat) Actually I'm going to pass on the whiskey.
Gabe gets up from the bar looks around, and notices the Saloon is empty of patrons.
GABE
This place is usually hopping. I guess this bar is a piece of shit.
Two rough looking COWBOYS walk into the Saloon, and block Gabe from leaving.
GABE
Get the hell out of my way.
The two Cowboys step aside and let him by. Gabe scowls at them on his way out pushing through the
swinging doors.
CUT TO:
EXT. - TOWN MAINSTREET - CONTINUOUS
The two Cowboys follow Gabe to his Horse that is parked at a hay feed nearby and confront him.
COWBOY 1
(draws gun from his holster)
You're gonna die today.
GABE
What is this bullshit? For almost falling off the wagon after
11 years being dry? Put that gun away dumbass, I don't carry any
gold on me, it's all in the bank so if you want it, go rob the bank.
COWBOY 2
This ain't no robbery. (beat) This is revenge.
A sudden burst of bullet fire from both Cowboys hits Gabe all over his torso, and he instantly drops
to the ground in a pool of his own blood. Gabe's horse whinnies in fear drawing back trying to break
free of its tie, passersby cower - some running for cover, while a few stand just stunned staring
emotionless at the horrific violence in front of them. The two Cowboys walk briskly to their
own horses, and ride away quickly disturbing the dry dirt road into a dust cloud behind them.

EXT. - CALIFORNIA DESERT - DAY
We see some low rocky hills littering the desert landscape, and one particular hill has a cave opening.
The two Cowboys sitting in front with a camp fire going, and coffee brewing. DAVID
rides up to them on a horse, and dismounts with two guns drawn one held in each hand pointing at
each Cowboy. After a few seconds David then holsters his guns seeing the Cowboys don't draw their
own weapons.
COWBOY 2
Look, it's Gabe's son. You can kiss this goldmine goodbye, you ain't
inheriting shit.
DAVID
That was a god damned accident, no justification for killing my
Father over an accident.
COWBOY 1
Fuck you, and fuck off.
DAVID
Couple of hired guns that don't know shit.
COWBOY 2
This is hearsay, but word has it your Pa deliberately caused that
cave in to cover up his crime. Ole Gabe shouldn't've violated
that poor girl that was working for him, maybe he'd still be alive.
COWBOY 1
(smiling)
We're just following the Old Testament, can't fault us there.
David draws his guns and shoots the two Cowboys in a hail of bullets, catching them off guard. The
two Cowboys slump over dead, one of them knocks the coffee pot off the fire on his way to the ground,
his bloody arm boils in the fire. David holsters his guns, and mounts his horse. David looks at the dead
Cowboys briefly, then with last words before riding off, says.
DAVID
Me too.

SHERIFF
Let's go!
DEPUTY

SHERIFF
O'Connor goldmine, couple of murdered men out there.
Deputy Baca gets up to gather his gear, and rifle, they head to the exit. Suddenly David walks through
the door, and shoots Sheriff Jones in his head, blood sprays, and he drops like a rock to the ground.
Deputy Baca raises his rifle, and points it at David.
DEPUTY
Put your guns down!! Drop it! Drop it! Goddammit drop it!
DAVID
Jones hired those men to kill my father. Put your rifle down
or I'll kill you too, you're a good man Baca, and I don't want to
kill a good man.
DEPUTY
(panicked)
Jones was a good man! Now drop the guns!
DAVID
I'm sorry.
A brief roar of gunfire back, and forth ensues, Deputy Baca falls dead landing face first on his rifle
barrel as he hits the floor.
