INT. - WAREHOUSE - DAY
GAVIN pulls up driving his forklift truck to the corner of the manufacturing warehouse close to
restrooms.
CUT TO:
CLOSE ON Gavin's hand locking inside restroom door. PULL FOCUS from the doorknob after
Gavin sits on the toilet to ANGLE ON him. He takes his phone from his coveralls pocket, and
starts scrolling, suddenly the restroom jolts violently for a brief moment, some dust, and small
pieces of ceiling debris cover Gavin. He looks terrified as if he knows what happens next.
Everything starts extremely shaking, and Gavin stands up, and pulls his pants up simultaneously
as quickly as possible while leaning against the tile wall, the shaking continues, and the ceiling
collapses burying Gavin completely, except for the top of his white hardhat, water sprays from a
busted pipe sticking up from the floor. The shaking subsides, and Gavin pushes himself up out
of the rubble on top of him, he has noticeable cuts, and scratches, but no serious injuries, he
crawls to the toilet to close the valve, it doesn't stop the flow, he then crawls to the sink, and
shuts of its valve, then the water stops from a small broken pipe. Gavin notices the brown water
leaking from the cracked toilet, he takes a whiff.
GAVIN
Shit! God why couldn't You have waited until I flushed first.
At least I'm alive.
Gavin examines the room, then tries the door, it's completely jammed. Gavin starts to panic, he quickly
shuffles out of his coveralls, and kicks the door desperately, he starts screaming.
GAVIN
Help! (beat) Heeeelp!!
His pleas for rescue continue with no answer in return.

EXT. - MAJOR CITY RUINS - DAY
THREE DAYS LATER
We see complete earthquake devastation to the point of most buildings have collapsed, and heavy
debris covering roads, and streets making them nearly impassable. A Military Helicopter flies over
the destroyed city, and lands in a small clearing in the parking lot of the leveled warehouse.
CUT TO:
Two Army MEDICS walk up a large mound of building rubble, and one of them points to a
specific spot. They settle in that spot, and assess the area, and situation.
MEDIC 1
The ping is coming from right here, we found him.
A robot dog walks up where the Medics are.
MEDIC 2
Sending in Spot. I can't believe we found a survivor at the epicenter.
MEDIC 1
Potentially. If this Gavin Gilson is still alive after three days,
and after the largest earthquake in Northwest history, he'll be famous.
MEDIC 2
The ping stopped, his phone must've finally died.
CUT TO:
INT. - DARK MUDDY HOLE - CONTINUOUS
CLOSE ON Gavin's phone in his hand, screen going from lighted to dark. A light shines in on
Gavin's face, and he squints. Spot walks up to Gavin and looks at him light still in his face.
GAVIN
A Boston Dynamics robot?
(Starts crying)
Oh my God, they found me.
A mild aftershock suddenly occurs, and Gavin falls into a deeper sink hole opening up at that moment.
Spot instinctively backs up to avoid going in, the robot looks around, then jumps in the hole
following Gavin.

EXT. - BUILDING RUBBLE - CONTINUOUS
MEDIC 1
(scrolling/tapping a touchscreen pad)
I think Gavin is alive, but a sinkhole took him down further.
Spot followed him in. Is it designed to do that? I didn't send it in.
MEDIC 2
I don't know, we didn't get a lot of training, and this tech is newly
implemented, get the manual. Oh look, excavation
crew is here, and the news.
MEDIC 1
CNN?
MEDIC 2
No, local.
PAN TO excavation crew, and equipment being staged. We also see the news van crew setting up to
broadcast.
CUT TO:
ANGLE ON REPORTER holding a microphone, news van in b.g.
REPORTER
Here we are at the epicenter of the Megaquake aftermath where
we recently found out there may be the only known survivor, after
a 911 call was made just yesterday, two days after the 8.6 on the
Richter scale earthquake caused almost the whole of Seattle to slide into
the Puget Sound. We had to sign waivers to enter this restricted site
to bring you this footage. Here we see an army medivac crew, and an
excavation crew ready to try and find this person out of this
incredible, and most tragic event. This Megaquake was predicted to
happen by scientists, and with tens of thousands of people dead, and
missing, the possibility of 'Gavin Gilson' being alive makes him nothing
short of a miracle. We only know his name at this point, and we will bring
you more updates, and coverage as we find out more, stay tuned.
Samantha Michaels, King 5 news. (beat) Ok let's get out of here before
there are any more aftershocks.
DISSOLVE TO:
We see the news crew pack up, while a crane operator raises a steel beam off the top of the rubble.
One of the military medics puts on a safety harness attached to a repel line preparing to go
down.
CUT TO:
ANGLE ON military medics.
MEDIC 2
If we don't find him within the next couple hours, we'll
have to try again tomorrow.
MEDIC 1
They created an opening.
Medic 2 starts to slowly, and carefully repel downward.
CUT TO:
Medic 2 reaches bottom, and looks around. He initiates radio contact
MEDIC 2
All I see is some exposed plumbing, and some fragments of a toilet,
but no sign of a sinkhole that goes further down. Makes no sense.
Do you still have video communication link with Spot?
Medic 1 responds back over radio.
MEDIC 1
No the link is still severed which is not supposed to happen.
MEDIC 2
Well there's no sign of this guy, it's like the earth swallowed him, and
Spot too. He's nowhere.
CUT TO:

INT. - DARK UNDERGROUND TUNNEL - CONTINUOUS
We see Gavin, and Spot together sitting against a red brick wall in a cramped, but walkable tunnel.
Spot's head lamp is on, and bright - it sways its metal dog like body back, and forth revealing Gavin's
bloody, and muddy face, then the depth of the tunnel over, and over again as if trying to tell
Gavin to get up and walk in a particular direction.
GAVIN
(pointing)
Alright little buddy that way? I think we might be in the
old Seattle underground. Glad I'm not claustrophobic, but no more
water is going to be a problem. Maybe you can get us out of here
bud, I imagine you've got a GPS, right?
Spot bounces up, and down, then starts walking further into the darkness, the lit red brick wall
suddenly ends, and a vast cavern consisting of metal beams, concrete, and shattered windows drowned
in dirty water is revealed under Spot's head beam illumination. Gavin lingers over Spot peering at
the eerie devastation.
GAVIN
Oh God, where do we go from here?
CUT TO:
EXT. - WAREHOUSE BUILDING RUBBLE - CONTINUOUS
ANGLE ON the military medics standing together staring down at the touchscreen control pad.
MEDIC 2
Did we get Spot back? It's getting dark. What's the battery life
on that thing anyway?
MEDIC 1
Not sure. Video back online. Look at this!
Medic 2 leans in at the screen. Zoom on pad screen to see the POV of Spot recording the vast
cavern of devastation partially covered in water, and Gavin's dirty distraught face being flashed
in frame for a couple of seconds, then back to the cavern.
CUT TO:
CLOSE ON Medic 1's animated hopeful facial expression.
MEDIC 1
Looks like nowhere man is somewhere after all.
About a mile up northeast from here.
MEDIC 2
A mile? How the hell?
MEDIC 1
I'll call it in, see if they want us to continue over night.
CUT TO:

END OPENING SCENES.
